The Soundtrack of my 2011

The song fireworks by Katy Perry best describes my 2011 which was basically about me breaking ground, being tested beyond measure, and surviving to tell the tale! Many songs come to mind but I think this one is it. I fell in love with the song while bored and browsing the tv, I caught a bit of it and googled the lyrics. POWERFUL! So behind that plastic exterior lies a girl who tells many of our lifes stories! What been your song for 2011?? Pray tell… Here the lyrics…

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again? Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin Like a house of cards, one blow from caving in?
Do you ever feel already buried deep? Six feet under screams, but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there’s still a chance for you ‘Cause there’s a spark in you? You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine Just own the night like the 4th of July

‘Case baby, you’re a firework
Come on, show ’em what you’re worth Make ’em go, oh, oh, oh
As you shoot across the sky
Baby, you’re a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make ’em go, oh, oh, oh

You’re gonna leave ’em falling down
You don’t have to feel like a waste of space
You’re original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds After a hurricane comes a rainbow Maybe you’re reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will blow And when it’s time, you’ll know
You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine Just own the night like the 4th of July

‘Cause baby you’re a firework
Come on, show ’em what you’re worth Make ’em go, oh, oh, oh
As you shoot across the sky
Baby, you’re a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make ’em go, oh, oh, oh
You’re gonna leave ’em falling down
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It’s always been inside of you, you, you
And now it’s time to let it through
‘Cause baby you’re a firework
Come on, show ’em what you’re worth
Make ’em go, oh, oh, oh
As you shoot across the sky
Baby, you’re a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make ’em go, oh, oh, oh
You’re gonna leave ’em falling down
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon

The Game aka OSR part 1

Urban dictionary define old school romantic (OSR) as;

A person who views all relationships as a quest to find their soul mate, and does not pursue relationships for any other reason. Additionally, there is usually little interest in random sexual encounters, as many believe the best physical relationship comes from a strong emotional one. The term used in context; “Mac has never had a one night stand, because he only wants to find his “true love”, the idiot. He’s one of those old school romantics, so convinced “she” is out there”.

I am a shameless old school romantic. I believe in my warrior in fresh beshu (read knight in shining armour); a guy who will sweep me off my feet and appreciate me for whom and all I am and have. I believe the OSR male species still exist, the few I know are either taken, gay or too old.

I’m so tired of silly mind games that brothers play! You get brothers that think they have worked out the ‘get-the-cookie’ plan to a tee. The stratergy used varies from boy to boy or girl to girl depending on the situation.

I’m dissappointed at sistas who haven’t figured out who and what they want and yet they still play the game. How the flip are you gona play rugby when you know jacksh!t about it? Sistas don’t get yourselves into sticky situations that you can’t handle! Don’t let them think they’ve won when you gave the game away! If he thinks you are worthy he’ll wait.

I have yet to meet a brother who’s an old school romantic and its a serious cause for concern. Come on niggas pull up your socks! SAD BUT TRUE MY BROTHERS LACK GAME!!!

CHAIN MAIL

First and foremost let me inform you that I’m a hater of chainmail! I’ve even deleted people who ONLY send chainmail! Look I’m no celeb and I don’t exactly have a long queue of people begging for my bbm pin but I’d rather have 5 contacts on bbm then 20 who fill my bb with crap. Sorry I’m not having that. **EVER** The Queen has spoken! As well meaning and kind it may seem but Gods not gonna turn his back on me if I don’t forward the message to ten people within the next five minutes! He failed to turn his back on me when I lied and stole, surely this is nothing!! I haven’t been totally innocent of this practise but I have learned to appreciate simple messages, not ones that have beem copied from hallmark cards that went out of fashion three decades ago! This xmas I’m expecting the same messages I have received since I owned a phone. I’m gonna read them smile and forward to another person, and then I’m gonna take a message from another and forward to this one as a gesture of ‘thanx-I’ve-received-your-lovely-sms-so-here-I-am-returning-the-favour’! Shoo the spirit of xmas has put us under pressure in more ways then one! Come new years eve at ten pm; I know I’m gonna get one that goes… ‘Before network jams…’ yal know the one. I’ve been receiving it consistantly since 2003! Truth I can back it up!! And then there’s those funny messages that circulate everywhere bbm, facebook, twitter, email, sms and all, you send to someone, they send it everywhere and also and back to you cause they forgot where they got it from. Ok, here my all time favourite kills me everytime. “In 2012 the government is gonna kill all the mentally challenged people. My heart sank when i thought of you 😦 RUN MY LITTLE RETARD FRIEND RUN*!!!!!!!! Send this to all your crazy ass friends that you cannot live without” I know I know but it makes me laugh. And please don’t send it to my I’ve received 5 times this week! What your fave/best/worst chain mail!! Let’s share

Killa Tequila

The pic below was taken new years eve 2009! Awesome time we had, don’t ask me how the night ended. 9 tequila shots are no childs play! Back then fun was at a club dancing the night away, now its more subtle, quiter and safer. This pic reminded me of a quote I read somewhere that goes “I’m not where I wanted to be yet, but I’m glad I’m not where I was”! Though I’m in touch with the wild rebel child inside, I love seeing myself maturing! #TeamOldies

Sista Fs wedding

I heared the most beautiful thing ever about love at this wedding! The groom said, ‘before we could have children she had to raise me in order to raise our kids’. The brides words ‘he understands that I’m a headstrong woman, he respects that and I respect him as head of the house, he let’s me shine and most times polishes me to shine brighter!’ Wowww! I fell in love with love all over again

What a beautiful blessed couple they are. May God bless abundantly

Ke Dezemba boss

Gosh the pressure that comes with December is unbelievable!! The pressure to drink, have sex, drive drunk, take drugs, get yourself did! Sho… Shem I normally avoid going out on the 16th, in my humble opinion one of the silliest days of December. Its they day that people spend their hard enough bonuses on booze, I mean everyone has 365 days in the year but it fails me why people wanna drink for the whole year in a day! Young girls of all the days you have to loose your virginity why Dezemba the 16th? Chances are you are too drunk to enjoy the experience or he’s too drunk to put on a condom and we all know the consequences of unsafe sex right?! No matter how experienced you are as a driver the 16th of Dezemba is definately not the day to proof this to your friends… Really? Do you wanna be sitting on a wheelchair regretting that one last drink you shouldn’t have had? I went to a colleague/friends wedding in Soweto yesterday and I choose not to drive cause I’m paranoid.. Am I overreacting? Ohh New Years Eve is another one!! What’s your least favourite thing about Dezemba festive season! Pray tell…

Steve Biko Quotes

The following quotes from Steve Biko are exhibited here in Honor of our Young Ancestor and the Black Consciousness Movement.

“I think what we need in our society is the power by us blacks to innovate. We have got the very system from which we can expand, from which we can innovate, to say: this is what we believe, accept or not accept . . . Cultures affect each other, like fashions, and you cannot escape rubbing against someone else’s culture. But you must have the right to reject or not anything that is given to you.”

“The basic tenet of black consciousness is that the black man must reject all value systems that seek to make him a foreigner in the country of his birth and reduce his basic human dignity.”

“We are looking forward to a non-racial, just and egalitarian society in which color, creed and race shall form no point of reference.”

“South Africa is the homeland of white facades, black blood, and black tears. This country, rich in natural resources and inherent beauty is also home to one of the greatest social and political evils of our time. As a continual conclusion to history’s racial problems, the South African white government has suppressed the native Africans for hundreds of years. In the last century, this uncompromising situation has continually been re-enforced through governmental legislation spear- headed by the vanguard racists, the Afrikaner National Party. Native South Africans finally voiced their suppressed anger and frustration at the government in the late1950’s, as the National Party was passing protective legislature to ensure their paranoiac hold on political, economic and social power. ”

“We are not concerned with that curious bunch of non-conformists…that bunch of do-gooders that goes under all sorts of names – liberals, leftists, etc. These are all the people who argue that they are not responsible for white racism…These are all the people who claim that they too feel the oppression just as acutely as the blacks and therefore should be jointly involved in the black man’s struggle…. In short, these are the people who say that they have black souls wrapped up in white skins.”

“I think, My Lord, in a government where democracy is allowed to work, one of the principles that are normally entrenched is a feed- back system, a discussion in other words between those who formulate policy and those who must perceive, accept, or reject policy. In other words, there must be a system of education, political education…”

“Even today, we are still accused of racism. This is a mistake. We know that all interracial groups in South Africa are relationships in which whites are superior, blacks inferior. So as a prelude whites must be made to realize that they are only human, not superior. Same with blacks. They must be made to realize that they are also human, not inferior”.

“The overall analysis, therefore, based on the Hegelian theory of dialectic materialism, is as follows. That since the thesis is a white racism there can only be one valid antithesis i.e. a solid black unity to counterbalance the scale…. We can never wage any struggle without offering a strong counterpoint to the white races that permeate our society so effectively”.
